The Uzès real estate market
Uzès and the surrounding region are attracting interest from all over the world, with buyers coming from England, Europe (especially Switzerland, Germany and Belgium) and Australia.
The inner suburbs of Uzès and the Saint-Siffret district are highly sought-after by customers for their easy access to all amenities. The most sought-after properties in these areas are charming stone houses and contemporary villas with private swimming pools.
Uzès: history and heritage
The first inhabitants of Uzès settled near the Eure spring. In Roman times, the Romans sought to tap this spring to supply the city of Nîmes, and built an aqueduct, known today as the Pont du Gard. From the 5th century onwards, Uzès experienced a period of significant growth and became home to a powerful bishopric. In the 16th century, the Comte de Crussols obtained the title of duke, and in 1632, Uzès became the first duchy of France. The Crussols family castle remains an emblem of the town.
Rated one of the most beautiful markets in France, the Uzès market on the famous Place aux Herbes offers a selection of quality local organic produce. Uzès also boasts the presence of Michelin-starred chefs and a culinary offer of excellence. The gastronomic restaurant “La Table d'Uzès”, run by Chef Christophe Ducros and awarded a Michelin star, is renowned for its refined, local cuisine. The contemporary bistro “Comptoir du 7”, owned by Maison St Georges and run by chef Nicolas, offers fresh seasonal produce.
Exploring the medieval streets of Uzès on foot is the ideal way to discover its many historic sites. The town's medieval architecture has been preserved, and many boutiques and art galleries have set up shop in the old buildings. Uzès enjoys an unspoilt environment and easy access thanks to its proximity to the TGV high-speed train line to Avignon.
The Uzès real estate agency is proud to be part of the prestigious Sotheby's International Realty network, an undisputed benchmark in the luxury real estate sector. It benefits from the reputation and trust acquired by Sotheby's, which enables it to offer excellent service to its international clientele.
